About David…

“Mentoring David with the Rotary Club TJSIS Program has enriched my life in many profound ways. I am happy and thankful to know and befriend David and his foster parents. This experience has given me the amazing opportunity to get to know David, befriend and believe in him. David is a bright, kind and caring boy with a warm smile. David enjoys family, friends, fun, and is also doing his best in school. David is working hard to improve his reading, writing, math and other academic skills and abilities.  Having a tutor is also helping David to enhance his competency and confidence. David also enjoys drawing and painting, participating in the school band (trumpet) and playing sports like volleyball and basketball. It is wonderful for me to spend time with David doing fun activities like playing basketball, going for ice cream, visiting the Calgary Stampede and Indian Village, or learning more about Indigenous culture through events and friends.  Of all my volunteering activities, volunteer mentoring David through Rotary is one of my most treasured and enjoyable life experiences. I look forward to mentoring, learning from and befriending David for many years to come. He’s a bright young star who enjoys the moment, and he has a hopeful and promising future ahead of him. Thank you Rotary Club of Calgary and ArtTalks for your kind, generous and invaluable support to help make this all possible.” – Michael
One of my mentors used to say, “when the student is ready, the teacher comes.” David comes in my life at a moment when I am now ready to give some of my time to others.  I am grateful to the RTSIS volunteers and supporters for providing me the opportunity to assist the next generation grow stronger”. – Sebastien
